How’s Your Enthusiasm Holding Up?
By the time Spring rolls around, statistics and our own personal experience tell us that we might be hard pressed to recall why we wanted to accomplish the goals we set at the beginning of the year…
…let alone still be enthusiastic about them.
Waning enthusiasm is the reason many goals drop off the radar without a blip or second glance.
“Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
So how do you, as a leader, maintain enthusiasm and focus for your goals throughout the year?
Here are a few thoughts:
- THE WHY – Reminding yourself of the compelling reason for setting the goal is a great way to revive and maintain enthusiasm.
- THE WHO – Share your goals with those close to you and invite them to hold you accountable. Accountability provides the motivation to keep progressing towards success.
- THE HOW – Celebrate small victories along the way and be ready to navigate obstacles so they don’t delay or discourage your team.
